Pre-Class Instructions

Use the following study aids to prepare for the exam.

  • Mainly, use https://hamstudy.org: Choose the Technician Exam, then read all the possible questions. Use Study mode for each sub-element, and complete each sub-element in Quiz mode until you’ve Seen 100% of the questions and have an Aptitude of 90%.
If you choose to purchase the $4 hamstudy application, you can use it without Internet access – the venue may not have WiFi, but some cell phone providers cover the area with cellular data): https://hamstudy.org/appstore

Questions with Just Right Answers (on hamexam.org)

When you get to the hamexam.org page, you have a choice to Only Show Correct Answers. You can also hide the question numbers.

Here is an excellent guide to using hamstudy.org to study before and during the class:  https://noji.com/hamradio/study.php#recommended_study_method

Warning about practice exams: you only see 35 questions at a time, so you could take a bunch of practice exams, get passing scores, and think you’re ready, even though you’ve only seen a handful of questions. After taking the actual exam we’ve had students say, “I never saw some of those questions!”  Most likely they never read all the way through the Questions and Just Right Answers, because all of the exams use exactly the questions in the Question Pool.

Explanations – you can memorize the answers, learn from the lectures, and dig deeper in this Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) document:
